BREAKING NEWS: Lakers announced the signing of $149-Million Star following LeBron James surprising trade…

When it comes to trade rumors involving LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers, there’s one potential destination that’s flying under the radar — but deserves more attention.

LeBron remains the NBA’s biggest star, and each offseason brings speculation about his next move. After a

disappointing 2024-25 season, the Lakers, under head coach JJ Redick, are under pressure to build a more competitive roster.

Pairing James with Luka Doncic certainly added star power, and the Doncic trade made waves across the league. However, last season showed that star power alone isn’t enough — the team still has gaps to fill.

As James returns for the 2025-26 season, questions linger: will he remain a Laker? If not, there’s a dark horse team in the mix that few are talking about — but maybe they should be.

LeBron James might remain in Los Angeles — just not in the way most people expect.

In a late June interview with ESPN’s Shams Charania, James’ agent Rich Paul said that “LeBron wants to compete for a championship,” fueling speculation that he could be considering a move away from the Lakers. Paul also noted that “he knows the Lakers are planning for the future,” and while James respects that direction, he still prioritizes having a real shot at winning another title. Paul emphasized their appreciation for the eight-year partnership with Jeanie Buss and Rob Pelinka, calling the Lakers a significant part of LeBron’s career.
