The Miami Heat front office may be preparing a major trade move if Kevin Durant doesn’t end up joining the team.

Pat Riley is particularly eager to bring Kevin Durant to Miami, hoping to give coach Erik Spoelstra a key piece to push the team back into championship contention. However, acquiring Durant is proving to be highly complex and uncertain, prompting the Heat to actively explore other realistic targets in case that deal falls through.
One of those alternatives is veteran DeMar DeRozan. Although past his prime, he still brings valuable skills to the table and would be a practical addition. More importantly, he could serve as a strong complement to Miami’s main focus: Jonathan Kuminga. Many believe the young Golden State forward has star potential, and under Spoelstra’s guidance—alongside players like Andrew Wiggins—Kuminga could take a major step forward in his developmnt.
