Coty Schock is making a bold move to the 450 class for the upcoming outdoor motocross season, bringing added excitement to the premier division. Much like a star athlete seizing the moment, Schock has chosen to ride the Yamaha 450 for the Muc-Off/FXR/ClubMX/Yamaha team, a squad with a solid record in the top-tier class.
Coming off a strong Supercross season, the transition wasn’t without its challenges, especially given the limited time to prepare the bike before the opener at Pala. Still, Schock didn’t hesitate, jumping right into testing and setup alongside a supportive team. The ClubMX crew, drawing from their successful stint with Phil Nicoletti last year, is fully behind the effort, tackling the additional workload, including intensive engine and suspension testing over recent weeks.
While the switch means Schock forfeits his 250 SMX points and resets in the 450 class, he’s no stranger to betting on himself—and winning. Having raced the full 2021 outdoor season in the 450s, Schock brings experience and a unique riding style that could make him a contender at each stop.
Team owner Brandon Haas expressed confidence in the decision: “Coty’s a true team player. Once we saw him on the 450, it was clear we had something special. The team rallied fast to give him a competitive setup.”
Beyond performance, the move also benefits sponsors and increases visibility for the team in motocross’s most-watched class. With the ClubMX goal of “Start up front,” fans can expect thrilling starts and strong performances from the #37 machine.
Schock shared his thoughts: “I’ve been wanting to get back on a 450, and this felt like the right time. Sure, it’s a risk with the points, but I believe it’ll pay off. Huge thanks to the team and Yamaha for going all-in with me. Now it’s on me to deliver.”
The season kicks off at Pala on Saturday, May 24, 2025, live on PeacockTV. With motocross viewership on the rise, Coty Schock’s return to the 450 class promises to bring even more energy to the series.
Note: Schock previously competed in the 450 class full-time during the 2021 Pro Motocross season on a Honda CRF450R, finishing 14th overall.
