BREAKING NEWS: Lakers compleate the signing of No.7 overall pick with 7-foot-5 wingspan…

Are the Los Angeles Lakers’ trade rumors true? According to reports, the organization has no plans to make any other moves before the season begins. They have decided to ride with their current lineup and see what the new team looks like.

Still, there are a few minor Lakers deals that might significantly strengthen their squad heading into the upcoming season.

One Lakers trade option was presented on FanSpo, and it may actually work. The transaction looks like this:

Lakers trade Maxi Kleber and Dalton Knecht.

Orlando Magic trade Wendell Carter Jr. and Jett Howard.

This easy two-for-two transaction could benefit both parties. The Lakers have acquired the best player in the transaction, Wendell Carter Jr. He would be an excellent backup big man to Deandre Ayton, complementing Ayton’s close-to-the-rim offensive play with three-point shooting and defense.

The primary issue for the Lakers is that this deal involves more long-term money. The Lakers have stated that they intend to remain flexible for next season’s free agency. They may be able to make a significant move to acquire Luka Doncic as a great running partner.

Still, every season is valuable, and the Lakers may need to bolster their current squad if they hope to compete this season. This trade would undoubtedly benefit them in the short run.

Kleber is a serious injury risk and a total defensive liability. Knecht isn’t much better on defense and hasn’t impressed the Lakers’ coaching staff in his brief stint in Los Angeles.

If the Lakers do not need to attach a pick, they should explore this move. This Lakers-Wendell Carter Jr. trade might provide the Lakers with defensive tools to compete for an NBA championship.
