Trey Hendrickson is making major waves in NFL news this week, while all eyes—except those in Cincinnati—are locked in on the situation with growing interest.
After leading the league in sacks last season, Hendrickson is now holding out from Bengals team activities, demanding a new contract. He’s set to earn a base salary of \$15.8 million in 2025, the final year of his deal, when he’ll be 30 years old.
The Bengals have already committed nearly \$300 million this offseason to wideouts Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, making it uncertain whether they’ll also invest heavily in Hendrickson. That raises the possibility of a trade, and one analyst thinks New England could be a perfect landing spot.
On a recent livestream, Bleacher Report’s Mitch Milani suggested a potential trade: the Patriots would send a 2026 third-round pick and guard Cole Strange to the Bengals—giving Cincinnati help at a position of need.
Milani noted this move could give head coach Mike Vrabel the ideal pass-rusher to anchor his defensive scheme in New England.
Adding Hendrickson would cap a busy offseason for the Patriots, who have brought in talent like Milton Williams, Stefon Diggs, Will Campbell, and Carlton Davis.
While other teams will certainly be in the mix, New England has plenty of motivation to make a strong push for the standout edge rusher.
