Are the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers poised for a massive trade?
The Lakers are in severe need of a center, especially after Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert brought the matter to light, but the Heat have a center coming off a poor season.
Bam Adebayo was his normal defensive self last season, but he scored his fewest points per game since 2020. Given Tyler Herro’s stellar season, Adebayo appears to be the more replaceable of the team’s two All-Stars.

A social media post that received over a million views proposed the following deal between the Heat and the Lakers:
Lakers get Adebayo.
The opinions were completely divided on the hypothetical agreement. Some think that Reaves would be a better fit for the Lakers than Adebayo, while others claim Heat president Pat Riley would never take such a low-ball offer, and a few even argue that Los Angeles is giving up too much.

The Lakers clearly aim to compete for titles in the coming years, something Adebayo may help with. However, the proposed trade makes no sense for the Heat.
Whether Miami’s front office decides to seek a real No. 1 option, start a full rebuild, or retool this summer, breaking connections with Adebayo for his return makes little sense.
