Barrow has completed the signing of defender Joe Anderson from Sunderland for an undisclosed sum. The 24-year-old has put pen to paper on an 18-month deal, becoming the club’s third addition of the month after the arrivals of goalkeeper Killian Barrett and Stoke City loanee Freddie Anderson.
Anderson made seven appearances for Sunderland after joining from Everton in January 2023, with his most recent outing coming in April last year. Barrow head coach Paul Gallagher highlighted the defender’s experience, noting that his time playing in both the Championship and League One has given him a strong understanding of the demands at higher levels, and expressed his eagerness to start working with him on the training ground.
All three January signings are set to be available for Gallagher’s first match in charge, as Barrow travel to face Crewe Alexandra on Saturday, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00 GMT.
