According to Celtsarehere, Celtic have yet to make direct contact with Feyenoord about a transfer, with just exploratory negotiations with Stengs’ agent to discuss the terms of a potential deal taking place. Stengs might become Celtic’s eighth signing of the season, following Jahmai Simpson-Pusey’s loan move from Manchester City and Callum Osmand’s free transfer from Fulham.
Stengs progressed through the AZ youth system and spent three successful seasons in the Eredivise before joining Nice in 2021. However, a year later, he was loaned to Royal Antwerp, where he performed well enough to convince Feyenoord to bring him back to the Netherlands. He scored 13 goals and assisted seven times in their 2023-24 Eredivisie title run, but his momentum stagnated last season as injuries kept him out for the majority of the season.
Kieran Tierney has signed for Celtic on a free transfer, marking an emotional comeback six years after moving to Arsenal in 2019. Brendan Rodgers’ side is off to a terrific start this season, having won their opening two league games to lead the standings.
