Since trading away Davante Adams, the Green Bay Packers have struggled to fill the void left by the star wide receiver. Rather than finding a single replacement, Green Bay has relied on a collective effort, recognizing that matching Adams’ prime-level talent is nearly impossible.
Now, the New York Jets find themselves in a similar position after Adams moved on to the L.A. Rams. Although the Jets have Garrett Wilson as their primary target, the team’s No. 2 wide receiver spot remains uncertain. Despite the 2025 NFL Draft being behind them, the Jets still have opportunities to strengthen their roster—and they’ve recently been linked to a potential replacement for Adams that brings a touch of irony: Romeo Doubs from Green Bay.
According to a recent Bleacher Report segment, the Jets are exploring a possible trade for Doubs, who initially joined the Packers as part of their plan to fill the gap left by Adams. Adams was traded to the Raiders before the 2022 season, and Green Bay responded by selecting Doubs in the fourth round of that year’s draft. Fast forward to 2025, and Doubs is now considered a likely trade candidate, especially following Green Bay’s recent draft decisions.
For the Jets, Doubs would be a logical fit, considering their current reliance on Allen Lazard as Wilson’s running mate. The team also has Josh Reynolds, veteran Tyler Johnson, and rookie Arian Smith in the mix, but none have firmly secured the No. 2 role. Doubs could potentially step in and take over that spot immediately, adding an interesting twist since he essentially replaced Lazard’s production when he left Green Bay for New York in 2023.
While a trade for Doubs seems plausible, whether it will be with the Jets remains to be seen. The potential move would not only address New York’s receiver needs but also complete a poetic full circle between the Jets and Packers.
